Bout of Books 10.0 Starts Today

Apparently, there is an event called Bout of Books, originally started in August 2011, and the most recent one starts today.[1] I heard about this event a few days ago from Rincey at Rincey Reads on YouTube,[2] and it sounds like lots of fun, so I’m going to try to participate. What is Bout of Books? The following is the description, according to the website.[3]

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week-long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th, and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Book is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. –From the Bout of Books team

I’ve never participated in Bout of Books before, so I’m excited to do so for the first time. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to read. Since I’m participating in the All Souls trilogy readalong,[4] part of my reading for Bout of Books will include Deborah Harkness’s A Discovery of Witches (which I’ve already started and am enjoying). There are several books that I’m currently in the middle of, and I’d like to finish reading them. (This will, of course, lead to me starting even more books and being in the middle of them, but such is the life of a book lover.) I also want to read some comics; I’ve been meaning to read more comics anyway, and this seems like the perfect opportunity.

Happy Reading!!
